To boost website sales, you need more of the right visitors and a bigger share of them buying or getting in touch. For most small businesses the quickest wins are not more traffic: they are a clearer offer, visible prices, a faster site, less friction at checkout or on the contact form, and proper follow-up with the people who nearly bought.

Here are ten practical ways to do it, in the order we usually tackle them for clients.

Start with the three numbers that make up your sales

Website sales come from three numbers multiplied together: visitors × conversion rate × average order value. Improving each one a little adds up fast:

Visitors a monthConversion rateAverage orderMonthly sales
Today (example)2,0002%$80$3,200
Each improved by 10%2,2002.2%$88$4,259

Three modest improvements, about 33% more sales. Know your own three numbers before you change anything, so you can see what works.

1. Make the offer obvious in five seconds

The top of your homepage and product or service pages should answer three questions at a glance: what you sell, who it is for and what to do next. Replace clever slogans with a plain headline, and put one clear button ("Shop now", "Get a quote", "Book online") above the fold.

2. Show prices, or at least a starting price

Hidden prices send people to competitors who show theirs. If every job is different, show a starting price or packages. For online stores, show shipping costs and taxes (GST/HST) early: unexpected costs at checkout are one of the most common reasons shoppers abandon their carts.

3. Cut friction from checkout and contact forms

  • Offer guest checkout; do not force people to create an account.
  • Ask only for what you need. Every extra field loses some buyers.
  • Accept the payment methods Canadians use, including credit cards and digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • On service sites, keep the first enquiry form to name, phone, email and one question, and add online booking if you can.

4. Make the site fast on phones

Most visitors arrive on a phone, often on mobile data. Test your key pages with Google's free PageSpeed Insights tool. Compress images, remove plugins you do not use and choose good hosting; a faster site keeps more of the visitors you already paid to attract.

5. Add proof where people decide

Put reviews, ratings and real photos next to the buy or contact button, not only on a separate testimonials page. Show guarantees, delivery times and your returns policy in plain words. A real Canadian address and phone number also reassure buyers.

6. Follow up with people who nearly bought

Most visitors do not buy on their first visit. Abandoned-cart emails, quote follow-ups and appointment reminders recover a share of those sales automatically. Collect consent properly: Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) requires permission before you send commercial emails. Our CRM and automation service sets up these follow-ups for you.

7. Raise the average order value

  • Suggest related products or add-ons at checkout.
  • Offer bundles and packages that cost less than buying separately.
  • Set a free-shipping threshold a little above your typical order.

8. Bring in visitors who are ready to buy

Traffic only helps if it is the right traffic. SEO brings people searching for what you sell, month after month; Google Ads puts you at the top of the results straight away while SEO builds. Send ads to the specific product or service page, not your homepage.

9. Measure every sale and enquiry

Set up conversion tracking so you know which pages, searches and campaigns bring sales: ecommerce tracking in Google Analytics, call tracking and form tracking. Without it, you cannot tell which changes worked.

10. Change one thing at a time

Make one or two changes, wait two to four weeks and compare your three numbers. Keep what works and move to the next fix. Steady small improvements beat a big redesign that changes everything at once.

How we have done this for clients

Selling online is what we build every day. A few examples from our own work:

  • germanparts.ca: an online store with 13,000 products and one-click ordering through to shipping.
  • USVacaRentals: book-direct vacation rentals with transparent pricing and secure checkout, so guests can book without a third-party site.
  • Lendmax: a live rate estimator that matches borrowers against 800+ rate offers and turns visitors into qualified leads.
  • Instasure: instant quotes for life, home, car and business insurance in every province.

Each one is built around the same idea: answer the buyer's question fast, make the next step easy and track the result.

Where to start

If you only do three things this month, make the offer obvious, show a price and shorten your checkout or contact form. If you would rather have a team do it, our web design services cover conversion-focused redesigns, with prices on our pricing page.

What is the fastest way to increase website sales?

Fix what stops visitors who already want to buy: make the offer and price clear, shorten the checkout or contact form, speed up the site on phones and add reviews near the buy button. These changes usually work faster than buying more traffic.

Do I need more traffic or a better website?

Usually both, but start with the website. Sending more traffic to a site that does not convert wastes money; improving conversion first makes every future visitor worth more.

How long does it take to see more sales?

Simple fixes like clearer offers, prices and shorter forms can show results within weeks. SEO builds over three to six months, while Google Ads can bring buyers within days.

Can you improve my existing website instead of rebuilding it?

Yes. We can review your current site, fix the biggest conversion problems and only rebuild what needs it. Book a free call and we will quote only what needs to change.
